"There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." - Hamlet (as penned by William Shakespeare) The problem with Communism is, in my mind, the same as the problem with Capitalism; which is the same as the problem with major religions and large corporations. Middle management. The guys in charge need layers of people to tame the information firehose being directed at them, and have to delegate authority to get relatively small tasks accomplished. All well and good so far, but the middle managers get a crap job so they get compensated for the said crap job (few sane people really want to be purchasing managers after all). If they're any good at their job, they start to realize further delegating downwards, while keeping as much authority and responsibility as possible, makes their lives easier. And so the cycle continues. Layer upon layer of lard builds up in large institutions. But wait, there's more! Every layer of lard is accountable
This is fiction; a story. Or, to put it more bluntly, a lie. I implore you, dear reader, never forget this truth; for it’s the last truth you shall read in this missive. I am a very old man. To you, I suspect I’d be unimaginably old. Let me assure you, I don’t look my age. Indeed, you would, and perhaps have, passed me on the street without a second glance. I’m not particularly handsome, ugly, tall, small, fit nor fat. For that, more than anything else, is the true gift granted to me. The agelessness increasingly not a boon, but a curse. For I envy you, your short and blessedly finite lives; often ending before you truly learn what you are, and those who do learn no longer can do anything about the experience they’ve so painfully gained. This ether-winged paen may, if the fates are so kind, finally lead to my rest. How I wish I could still pray it is so! Remember, my dearest friend, what is contained within is only the crassest fabulation; a tale concocted by a sadly diseased mind.
